Posts Prius Scheduled Maintenance Posted on: 28, June, 2017 One of the most important ways you can take care of your new (or new-to-you) car is by following the factory scheduled maintenance. Staying up-to-date on your Prius scheduled maintenance will help you protect your investment – and get the most out of your money in the long run. Do I really need to do Prius scheduled maintenance? We can’t say this enough, YES! You’ve put a lot of money into your car and you want it to last you a long time, right? Then you need to take care of it.

If you perform the Prius scheduled maintenance when you’re supposed to, you’ll get better fuel efficiency and you’ll maintain your car’s value. For keeping your car running its best.

Some tips for maintaining your Prius include:. Use the right oil. Know which oil your specific Prius needs and use that oil! Don’t try to save money by using a cheaper oil. This can only hurt you (and cost way more money) in the long run. Change your air filter.

This might seem like an unnecessary step, but according to the US Department of Energy, replacing clogged air filters can improve acceleration time on newer model cars (like your Prius) and improve gas mileage on older ones. It’s easy to fix and may not be necessary every time you get your oil changed, but it’s always worth a look. Check your tire pressure. This tip might seem like another no-brainer, but it’s one of those things that you can do yourself – as long as you have the right tools.

Making sure your tires are properly inflated will improve your fuel efficiency and decrease normal wear-and-tear. Your tires, and your Prius, will thank you!

Make sure they have the correct tools and certifications to work on your hybrid vehicle.

You don’t want someone without experience with your Prius’s complex electrical systems and battery putting their hands on your car. Find a mechanic or shop with the ASE certified hybrid repair shop seal and you know your car will be taken care of.

An important note: taking your Prius to a mechanic other than the dealer for regular scheduled maintenance will NOT invalidate your warranty. However, not performing the maintenance might! Be sure to take care of your Prius and follow the maintenance schedule.

How do I know what maintenance my Prius needs? One way to keep on top of what type of service your Prius needs and when is to follow this rule of thumb:.

Shawn, Thanks for the offer. And thanks for the feedback from the other posters. I can't post the owners manual link because of PriusChat rules ('You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 5 posts or more.'

) Go to the main Toyota website. Under 'For Owners' select 'Owners Manuals'.

On the new page in the upper right hand corner, enter 'Prius' and '2012'. Then you will see a link to the owners manuals (60). There are 60 separate PDF files so this could be very large. Also I don't think it is in order. So maybe it's not worth trying to combine into one file??

I just know that it is hard to find something in the index or via a search if you have to go through many files.
