So pressing the + button, will this show current gear selected or shift up a gear? I ask since when cruising I pressed + once and it showed 8 on the evic. Does this mean I was in 7? All the number is is the top gear your truck will shift to. The buttons do not manually shift the truck, they are to lock out gears.

For example, if you press the - button and it shows 6, then that means you are in 6th gear. If you then press the + button, the truck will be able to shift to 7th, but if you aren't meeting the conditions to justify a shift (i.e. Engine speed, load, etc.) then it still won't shift.
