2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 Owners Manual

The WT and LS trims are great for buyers planning on using this pickup as a simple gear hauler, but it's best to skip those (and the Custom trim) and go straight to the LT if you're looking for a few creature comforts. Cloth upholstery, a larger touchscreen, satellite radio and tailgate dampers are all standard on the LT, while two available packages add a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a rear window defogger, among other upgrades. The LT also opens the door to other options that you can't get on lower trims, such as a navigation system and the city-friendly eAssist package. It's pretty easy to figure out why the Chevrolet Silverado is General Motors' best-selling vehicle. Americans love pickups, so there's that. But Chevy does its part by offering a huge range of Silverado configurations.

It's sold with three cab layouts, three bed sizes and three engine choices across six distinct trim levels. Whether you want a bare-bones work truck or a luxurious cruiser, there's probably a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for you.

A number of notable additions for 2018 further bolster the Silverado's wide-ranging appeal. They were options last year, but a rearview camera and 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard on even the humble Work Truck trim. The eAssist package, which adds an engine stop-start system for improved fuel economy in city driving, is now available nationwide — the package was previously sold in a limited number of California dealerships. The Silverado isn't as new as the Nissan Titan, as light as the Ford F-150, or as comfortable as the Ram 1500.

But Chevy's bread and butter does most things well and should command a high spot on your shopping list of potential pickups. Notably, we picked the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 as one of Edmunds' for this year. The Silverado 1500 full-size pickup is available in three cab styles: the two-door regular cab, the four-door extended (Double) cab and the crew cab. The regular cab seats three and can be had with either a 6.5-foot-long standard bed or an 8-foot-long bed. The extended cab can seat up to six and comes only with the standard bed.

The crew cab adds full-size rear doors and increased rear legroom and is available with the standard bed or a shorter 5-foot-8-inch bed. All cab and cargo bed configurations can be ordered with two- or four-wheel drive. Regular cabs are limited to the Work Truck (WT), LS and LT trims. The extended cabs come in WT, LS, Custom, LT and LTZ trims, and the crew cab comes in all the aforementioned trim levels as well as the plush High Country.

The off-road-oriented Z71 package can be ordered in LT and LTZ models with four-wheel drive. The WT is powered by a 4.3-liter V6 engine (285 horsepower, 305 pound-feet of torque) matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. Its standard features list includes 17-inch steel wheels, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, black front and rear bumpers, manually adjustable mirrors, a bed light, a rearview camera, air-conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, a tilt-only steering column, a driver information display, vinyl seating, vinyl floor covering and a 40/20/40-split front bench seat. Standard technology includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet's MyLink interface, Bluetooth and a six-speaker audio system with a USB port, an auxiliary audio jack, and smartphone compatibility via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The standard equipment changes slightly depending on the cab configuration. Extended-cab models get a full-width folding rear bench, while crew cabs have a 60/40-split folding bench. Extended- and crew-cab models get power windows, while regular cabs get manually operated windows.

Front tow hooks are standard with four-wheel-drive models. The LS adds stainless-steel finish wheels (crew-cab models get alloys), chrome bumpers and grille, power and heated mirrors, deep-tinted glass, remote locking and unlocking, OnStar (with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi), and power windows for the regular cab. The Silverado Custom is similar to the LS but receives special exterior trim, front tow hooks and 20-inch chrome wheels (Onstar and remote locking and unlocking are deleted but can be added back by selecting the Convenience package). From the LS, stepping up to the LT adds a tailgate damper, alloy wheels, body-colored door handles and mirrors, cloth upholstery (with adjustable lumbar support for the driver), carpeting, vinyl floor mats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, an upgraded driver information display, and an 8-inch touchscreen with HD radio, satellite radio and a CD player. Double- and crew-cab models with front bucket seats also get a floor-mounted console with wireless phone charging. Under the hood of the LTZ lies a 5.3-liter V8 engine (355 hp, 383 lb-ft) matched to either a six-speed or eight-speed automatic, depending on configuration. And here's a features rundown of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. For 2018, the Chevy Silverado gets a standard rear view camera and a seven-inch touchscreen.

Otherwise it returns mostly unchanged. Like other pickups, the Silverado 1500 is offered in regular, double, and crew cab body styles paired with short, standard, or long beds. There's also a broad range of trim levels to choose from. We're partial to the mid-level LT trim that adds some creature comforts and is also eligible for far more options than supporting models.

We also like the available V8 engines that improve performance and towing abilities. Unfortunately, the eight-speed automatic transmission is only offered on top trim levels. Compared to other trucks, the Silverado feels heavy, likely due to some slow throttle response and handling limitations. It does get high marks for towing, though.

Maxing out at 12,500 pounds when properly equipped. On paper, the Silverado's rear seats aren't as spacious as the competition. But you'd still have no problem getting three adults in the crew cab. The interior is well-built and free of creaks. But the plastic materials look and feel cheap when compared to the new Ford F-150 On the technology front, the Silverado scores points for including a Wi-Fi hotspot. But we're not so hot on the Chevy MyLink infotainment system. We prefer using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are also standard.

Some suspension options tend to make the ride quality too stiff over bumpy roads. We gave the standard suspension a much better grade, especially on the highway. The Silverado 1500's top competitors include the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Nissan Titan. Bottom line, the Silverado 1500 isn't as new as the Titan, as light as the F-150 or as comfortable as the Ram 1500. But Chevy's bread and butter does most things well. And whether you want a bare-bones work truck or a luxurious cruiser, there's probably a Silverado for you. Given the versatility of today's pickup trucks, it's no wonder they are consistently among the top-selling vehicles of all types. A great example is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Whether the task is a family vacation with a boat in tow or hauling building materials home for the next big project, Chevy's talented truck is ready to take it all on. The Silverado's lineup includes everything from a minimal frills regular-cab work truck to an upscale crew cab that can transport up to six adults in supreme comfort.

As far as powertrains are concerned, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers the expected V6 and V8 options, the latter including a burly 6.2-liter mill. Though one doesn't typically buy a pickup truck for blistering acceleration, it is nonetheless impressive to note that a Silverado crew cab with 4WD and the 6.2 V8 takes just 6.4 seconds to sprint to 60 mph. More practically speaking, towing capacities for the Silverado range from a maximum of 7,600 pounds with the V6 on up to 12,500 pounds with the 6.2-liter V8. Buyers who would like V6 fuel economy from their V8-powered truck may consider the eAssist package. Available on the LT and LTZ trim levels and working in concert with an added electric motor, regenerative braking and an automatic engine stop-start system, eAssist creates a mild hybrid version of the popular 5.3-liter V8 and squeezes an additional mile or two out of every gallon of gasoline. The Silverado family offers a large variety of trim levels.

The aptly named Work Truck trim has vinyl seating and floor covering, yet it is a far cry from base trucks of years past since it includes air-conditioning, cruise control, a 40/20/40-split front seat, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay among its standard features. The LS is better equipped, with power and heated mirrors, deep-tinted glass, remote locking and unlocking, and OnStar. The Silverado Custom is an appearance package that further adds 20-inch wheels and tow hooks, among other exterior upgrades. Shoppers looking for superior passenger comfort should start at the LT trim, as it adds creature comforts that include a tailgate damper, alloy wheels, cloth (rather than vinyl) and an 8-inch touchscreen with HD and satellite radio and a CD player. The LTZ adds a 5.3-liter V8, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a trailer hitch, auto-dimming driver and rearview mirrors and leather upholstery. The top-dog High Country boasts a unique grille, 20-inch chrome wheels, front and rear parking sensors, chrome side step rails, a navigation system and ventilated front bucket seats. A variety of options packages are available, further equipping the Silverado with additional appearance, performance and luxury upgrades.

Stand-alone options are similarly plentiful. Whether you need a basic work truck or a tricked-out luxury pickup, use Edmunds' peerless shopping tools and build and find your ideal 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Overview The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in the following submodels: Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, Silverado 1500 Double Cab. – The Chevrolet Colorado is the very best of the midsize pickups, with virtues that exceed most of what is offered by the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, and also the individualistic Honda Ridgeline. We have discovered Colorado surpasses the leading-promoting Tacoma in the ride, managing, product packaging, in shape and complete, interior place and materials, connections, driving position, and bed features.

Now we believe the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, traditional ruler of flat surfaces amongst midsize pickups, could have finally met its obstacle in the form of the new Colorado ZR2, released later in the 2017 model year. 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Concept and Owners Manual 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Model and Price The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado is available in base, WT, LT, Z71 and ZR2 models in several designs. We measured 23, spanning a wide price range. The Z71 receives hillside descent control. Read more: 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Exterior Chevy Colorado have relentlessly rectilinear facial lines of the total-sizing Chevy Silverado, nor the excess fat grille of the GMC Canyon, overkilled by stainless. Colorado’s rising shoulder series softens the pickup silhouette with boxy fenders. The grille is slender and relatively tiny. Colorado appears like a pickup truck, a good-searching vehicle. It can not look like a Honda Ridgeline. The ZR2’s front bumper is trimmed for clearance more than rocks, along with its wheels are pressed out. It looks planted, in spite of the lifted suspension.

The hood bulges. The ZR2 is thoroughly clean, preventing the aftermarket appear.

It courses up any off-road gathering. 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Interior In the cabin, Colorado is like the Silverado, rugged and high end, with a fit and complete that’s much better than that of the Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier. It can feel plenty pickup truck-like within, but there is an element of the sedan in the nicely-done dashboard, the seat bolstering, and lightweight aluminum-look entrance and dash clip. The beefy steering wheel has lots of handles. The transfer lever is mounted on a full and taller gaming console that will retail store an Apple iPad tablet while holding two huge cupholders and up to 4 USB ports, as well as many small safe-keeping slot machine games, bins, and containers. 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Interior and Redesign There are exceptional headroom and legroom and a massive perspective out the windscreen.

Manual of suzuki max 100. The front side seats are comparatively slim, and get a more natural driving place than other trucks in the class, with a higher hip point and a far more ergonomic partnership to the steering wheel, unlike the splayed-thighs and legs posture you have to take in the Tacoma. Colorado is a lot more relaxing to drive for trips more than one hour. 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Driving For a pickup van, Colorado provides a sleek ride that takes care of protrusions well, rendering it a persuasive replacement for a car. Some motions allow it to be into the cabin, but full sidewalls on the auto tires absorb a great deal. We would be okay with a commute over tough streets in a Colorado, which we can’t say about the Tacoma or Frontier.

2018 Chevy Silverado Z71 Review

The Honda Ridgeline is also a competitor, but it is diverse. The Ridgeline has unit body development (like a car or a crossover) when Colorado is body-on-structure, more excellent for trucks because the design is outstanding for towing, moving and sturdiness.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado Summary The Chevy Colorado provides a potent powertrain, good looks, hassle-free cabin, smooth journey, and reasonable coping with. We believe it’s very best, of course, the best vehicle between midsize pickups. We love to all of its heroes: from straightforward four-cylinder stick-change Job Van to 2nd family members car, to high-technical offroad monster.
